From a newbies point of view -
We really enjoyed our visit with you folks from around the state. We were shy at first - didn't know if we would fit in........
When we arrived on Thursday, after a short time, "Two4the Road" showed up to greet us and offer help. That was very nice of Lonnie and went a long way to make us feel more comfortable.
Friday morning, Punkin Dad popped by to say hello and stayed for a cup of coffee and some chatting. Friday during the day we went off to tour the area and attractions.
Friday evening we were sitting in the camper playing a resounding game of Parcheesi on the computer, when Tim said - shouldn't there be something we're suppose to be doing with the group? I told him, I have no idea.........................
Then, guess who shows up at our camp - you guessed it "Punkin Dad" to the rescue. He explained to us how the group "works around" the base camp and that many we're at the campfire waiting to meet us. Off we went to the base camp to meet everyone.......
Saturday morning's breakfast was exceptional for camping - Everyone brought an item to contribute and I recall cooked the item they brought. A feast to behold! Breakfast lasted for 2 hours or so.
After breakfast - the majority of the group went on a hike to the river overlook - we decided not to go - there was no pressure to do so...... That's one thing I noticed - if you want to play with the group, your welcome and if you want to go off and do something else or on your own - no problem have fun - see you later.
Come evening, there was the Fall Festival in the park and everyone went but me. Sure was erie staying behind - there were maybe 30 or so RV's Campers and pop up's all around and it seemed that I was the only one in the loop.
Dinner was "Pot Luck" and the luck was on our side - I will admit that I ate more "Jambalaya" than I should have - it was just too good to stay away. Tried some of Brian's chicken bone with "Parmesan Cheese" that was new to me as well. We also had corn bread made with corn (stop laughing at me) and a exotic vegtable dish which I have no idea what I was eating, I just know it was good!
Add to all this many visits to the base campfire for idle chit chat and sometimes serious issues, you have the makings of a great camping trip.
This was a very diverse group from one end to the other - we really enjoyed ourselves, had fun, learned a few things and can't wait till the next one comes...................!!!!!!!
Fellow Newbies on this forum - Come on and give it a shot, Join the group for a trip - You'll have fun and will be amazed at Brian and Barry's sense of humor!!!!!!!!!!!!
